Publisher’s Introduction:
All praise be to Allah, the One. We praise only him, seek only His aid and ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil in our souls and from our evil deeds. We bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad (peace be on him) is His messenger.
It is with great happiness that we at Dar Makkah are able to present the English translation of Sheikh Mustafa Al-Sibai’s useful work on the biography of the Prophet peace be on him). Sheikh Mustafa Al-Sibai’s was a tireless worker for the cause of Islam from earlier this century. He has written many books that deal with some basics of Islam as well as correcting many misconceptions concerning Islam. This work on the biography of the Prophet (peace be on him), although meant as notes for freshman students, is definitely one of his better works. He presents the Prophet’s life and the lessons to be learned from his life clearly and lucidly. The newcomer to Islam as well as the scholar can both benefit from this excellent treatise.
Unfortunately, Sheikh Al-Sibai was influenced by the environment in which he lived. Earlier this century, in Al-Sibai’s Syria, many Islamic scholars took apologetic stances. Therefore, many statements that can be considered objectionable may be found in this work. For that reason, we have asked Br. Jamaal al-Din Zarabozo to review the text. The combinations of the original work and these footnotes make this present work a great contribution to the Islamic literature available in English.
Although this is the first of our publications, it is our hope that we will continue to produce quality works to enhance and improve the already existing Islamic literature available in English.
We pray to Allah for success and guidance.
